Fulfilling the dream of every girl child’s

yearning for learning…..

In the Indian context, when the income of the family gets reduced, the first casualty is the education of the girl child  followed by  literally disposing  her off through marriage.  In a recent report of the Census Commissioner, it is astonishing to know that 2.3% of girls were married before they were 18 in 2018, i.e. in our context it is a staggering  1.54 crores.

The lockdown is even continuing beyond 6 months and the suffering still persists with no income.  The girl students of our school – Ramakrishna Vidya Niketan, come from a family whose bread winners are migrant labourers, housemaids, daily wage earners employed in vegetable /flower/fruit shops and construction workers. With most families leading a hand to mouth existence, we fear and foresee that the drop out from the school will be alarming.

It becomes our responsibility and commitment that the girls whom we always consider as the pillars of strength should not lose the opportunity of Education, just because the family is unable to pay for their fees, uniform and other necessities.

Udavum Karangal with the ardent support of its Well Wishers proposes to provide these children “ FREE EDUCATION” , by absolving their parents from paying the tuition fees. For this we require monetary support to pay the 100 plus teachers, for uniforms, books and notebooks and maintenance.

We are hosting a fundraising event on 22nd August 2020 towards supporting the fees of girl children who are studying in our school and it cost $100 per child. You can contribute towards one or more kids. The details are given below:
